Leica M lenses on Sony E
Does a Leica M lens fit a Sony E body?
Yes, with a simple adapter and no loss of image quality. Leica M has a flange focal distance of 27.8 mm and Sony E has 18.0 mm, leaving 9.8 mm for the adapter to occupy. Because the adapter contains no glass, the lens performs exactly as it does on its native mount.
Autofocus: Manual focus only
Purely mechanical, so it always works — there is nothing to go wrong electronically. Focus and aperture are manual and no EXIF is recorded. The known optical problem is that wide-angle M lenses project light at a steep angle onto a sensor stack designed for telecentric lenses, producing smeared corners and colour casts on wides.
