Leica M lenses on Nikon Z
Does a Leica M lens fit a Nikon Z body?
Yes, with a simple adapter and no loss of image quality. Leica M has a flange focal distance of 27.8 mm and Nikon Z has 16.0 mm, leaving 11.8 mm for the adapter to occupy. Because the adapter contains no glass, the lens performs exactly as it does on its native mount.
Autofocus: Manual focus only
Mechanical and reliable. Nikon Z has the shortest flange distance of any full-frame mount, so it takes M glass with the most clearance — and its sensor stack handles wide-angle M lenses somewhat better than Sony’s, though the corner smearing on very wide lenses does not disappear entirely.
