Canon EF lenses on Micro Four Thirds
Does a Canon EF lens fit a Micro Four Thirds body?
Yes, with a simple adapter and no loss of image quality. Canon EF has a flange focal distance of 44.0 mm and Micro Four Thirds has 19.25 mm, leaving 24.75 mm for the adapter to occupy. Because the adapter contains no glass, the lens performs exactly as it does on its native mount.
Autofocus: Single-shot autofocus only
The optical “speed booster” adapters squeeze the full-frame image circle down onto the smaller sensor, recovering roughly a stop of light and widening the effective field of view. Autofocus is slow and best treated as single-shot only.
What to watch for
This is the one category where an optical adapter is the point rather than a compromise — but it only makes sense adapting a larger format down to a smaller one.
