Does a Canon EF lens fit a Canon RF body?
Yes, with a simple adapter and no loss of image quality. Canon EF has a flange focal distance of 44.0 mm and Canon RF has 20.0 mm, leaving 24.0 mm for the adapter to occupy. Because the adapter contains no glass, the lens performs exactly as it does on its native mount.
Autofocus: Full autofocus
The best-behaved adaptation in photography. Canon’s own adapter passes autofocus, image stabilisation, aperture control and EXIF through untouched, and lenses focus as fast as they do on a native body — sometimes faster, because mirrorless bodies focus off the sensor and never need micro-adjustment.
What to watch for
The plain adapter and the Control Ring adapter are optically identical; the latter only adds a customisable ring. Do not pay for the drop-in filter version unless you specifically want filters on ultra-wide lenses that cannot take front filters.
